| Description | IL-6RA protein, full name Interleukin-6 Receptor Subunit Alpha, also known as CD126, IL-6Rα, or gp80, is an important cell surface transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the type I cytokine receptor family. IL-6RA protein plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses, hematopoiesis, and acute-phase inflammatory reactions by binding to its ligand interleukin-6 (IL-6) with high affinity, thereby forming a complex with gp130 (IL-6ST) and activating downstream JAK/STAT3, MAPK, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways in normal physiological conditions. Currently, IL-6RA-targeted therapeutic strategies have demonstrated significant clinical efficacy, with the humanized monoclonal antibody Tocilizumab (Actemra®) being approved for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Castleman's disease, and severe cytokine release syndrome (CRS) associated with CAR-T therapy.
